And what Communion Has Light with Darkness?

Theme: Communion With The World, Will Steal Your Communion With The Holy Spirit!

14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.

2 Corinthians 6: 14-16 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

2 Samuel 8-11

Bible Versions:

2 Corinthians 6:14-16 (NIV)-14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God,  and they will be my people.

2 Corinthians 6:14-16 (MSG)-14-16 Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark? Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands? Who would think of setting up pagan idols in God’s holy Temple? But that is exactly what we are, each of us a temple in whom God lives. God himself put it this way.

2 Corinthians 6:14-16New Living Translation (NLT)-14 Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? 15 What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil[a]? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? 16 And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them.  I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Devotional Thoughts:

The Holy Spirit calls us to have an intimate communion with Him. The word communion means “experience sharing and participating together.” It is the power to have a deeply intimate and profound relationship, not superficial! In James 4: 5 he tells us,  “Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?   In what corresponds the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, He longs to have Daily and deep communion with us! The Holy Spirit wants us to enjoy His presence and glory every day of our walk here on earth.

The problem is that we often have more communion with the world and all it offers, than with the Holy Spirit! On how many occasions have we filled our day with the hustle and bustle of everything we have to do, and forget the priority of spending time in communion with the Holy Spirit.  It is as if the world absorbs and captivates us to the degree that it robs us of our friendship with God. It reminds me of the warning in James 4: 4, where it tells us, “ Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Today the Holy Spirit does yearns jealously for us, on his part he wants to spend time with us, those sweet moments in His presence! In Revelation 3:20 we are told, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”  This morning I ask you, can you hear his voice? If you just take a break from your world that entangles you with all kinds of cares and worries, you can hear the voice of the Holy Spirit calling you by your name to come to dine in His presence.
