Thoughts Of Devotion:
The evangelism the Bible teaches us is aggressive and radical. Wherever the disciples would preach, powerful things would happen. We see that there was a radical change of atmosphere. Entire communities and cities were transformed by the message of the Gospel. The Gospel they preached was full of power and results. It was not a quiet and passive Gospel, but on the contrary. Imagine, the reputation these first Christians had! They were known as revolutionaries, they always caused commotion, and when they would arrive to a city, everyone knew.
In Scripture we see how the power of evangelism always revolutionized lives. Lives were transformed through the message of Jesus Christ! Everywhere the message of Jesus Christ was preached there would awaken a genuine interest within the people and as a result multitudes of them would surrender to the Gospel. I believe now more than ever our world needs a genuine change and transformation. People are tired of all temporary and superficial, things that do not satisfy the deep need that have. We not only have the task of taking the Gospel, but we need to make sure we deliver it in a way that lives will be transformed. We have a powerful Gospel!
Why is it that nothing could hold these men and women back? Despite the enemies opposition, they continued to preach with zeal and courage. Even so, the more the opposition, the more determination they had to evangelize. My answer is, they had passion. A Passion for Christ and for souls that would not let them hold back! We should pray this morning that The Lord may give us this passion for evangelism. That we may be more aggressive and radical for us to see this message of the Gospel. This is our time! Pray that this passion may burn in our hearts.
Acts 18:5 (NKJV) — When Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.
1 Corinthians 9:16 (NKJV) — For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!
1 John 1:3 (NKJV) — that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
Acts 22:15 (NKJV) — For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.
Acts 1:8 (NKJV) — But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
