Devotional Thoughts:

The psalmist David knew God in an intimate and personal way. He wrote many Psalms, but the most known by all of us is Psalm 23. This psalm describes God as our Shepherd. I ask myself, why did David refer to God in this manner? It could be possible, because David himself was a shepherd and he had his own flock. Through this personal experience David developed an intimacy with God as Jehova-Rohi, The Lord is my Shepherd. It’s for this reason that he lived always trusting and secure in God.

When we have God as our Shepherd, we can completely depend and trust in His care. How tremendous, there’s complete provision for us! God promises to care for his flock. As sheep of His flock we completely depend on Him for food, guidance and protection. The book of Isaiah makes reference to this in Isaiah 40:11, “He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young.” Thank God for Jehova-Rohi! This morning He takes us to green pastures and he feeds us daily.

Today, The Lord desires to guide us to green pastures. He desires to reveal himself to our lives in a special way. Let us pray that everyday we may trust in our God as our Shepherd. Understand that there is nothing that He cannot provide. We are the sheep of his flock as Psalms 100:3 says, “Know that the Lord , He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” What a blessing it is to know Jehova-Rohi! As we hear His voice this morning, it is a great privilege. Let us open our hearts and receive from Jehova-Rohi the sustain for today.
