Ask, And You Will Receive

Topic: Prayer For His Provision

And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

John 16:23–24 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Leviticus 21-23

Bible Versions:

John 16:23–24 (NLT) — 23 At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. 24 You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.

Thoughts Of Devotion:

Prayer is the key to see God’s provision upon our lives. The Lord promises us in his Word that when we cry out to Him, without a doubt he will answer providing for us! All our provision is found in seeking God daily, as Matthew 6:11 declares, “Give us this day our daily bread.” God is our Father, and as our Father he loves satisfying  his children, meeting every need we may have. He is good, and from his abundance he will provide for our daily living. Let’s be reminded what Matthew 7:11 tells us,  “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”

Although, there are a few things and conditions in order to receive an answer from God for our provision…

  • We must ask with faith, without doubting – Matthew 21:22 (NKJV) – And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.

  • It is important to abide In Christ – John 15:7 (NKJV) – If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

  • We must ask with the right motives – James 4:3 (NKJV) – You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

  • We must pray according to his will – 1 John 5:14-15 (NKJV) – Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

The Lord places before us the door of prayer for us to receive his provision. Today let’s enjoy the privilege we have to come before the presence of God and take from his unending resources. The resources of God are limitless, he has a great storage and will surely, supply with more than what we need and ask! 2 Corinthians 9:8 tells us, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

Foundational Scriptures:

1 Timothy 2:1 (NKJV) — 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,

John 15:7 (NKJV) — 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

Isaiah 65:24 (NKJV) — 24 It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.

Matthew 21:22 (NKJV) — 22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.

  1. Prayer is such an important key to seeing god’s provision, when we don’t spend time with him, we won’t have a close relationship with him!!
