Topic: When We Depend On God We Have At Our Reach An Inexhaustible Supply Source

Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased.

2 Kings 4: 6 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Leviticus 8-10

Bible Versions:

2 Kings 4:6 (NIV)-When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.

2 Kings 4:6 (NLT)-Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing.

2 Kings 4:6 (TLB)-Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to her sons. “There aren’t any more!” they told her. And then the oil stopped flowing!

Devotional Thoughts:

The obedience and faith of the widow had great results, before her eyes, the jars of oil filled to the brim! Each of them was miraculously filled by the supernatural provision of God. What a great lesson for us all, we can learn that when we depend on God we will have an inexhaustible source of provision within our reach. Is a source that will never cease; but will abundantly supply our needs!  For every empty jar, there is enough oil to fill it; none will be left half empty! On the contrary, it will be full until it overflows. God will give us much more than we imagine.

From a small jug, many more were filled! It was the obedience and faith of the widow in the promise of God that activated the miracle of provision. If God had told her, she had to believe and cast all doubt that might be impeding the miracle of provision. It was according to her faith that God worked, she determined the quantity of jugs that would fill with oil! The potential for provision was inexhaustible because God was in the midst of her crisis. The moment the jugs went out, the oil ceased, if she had  more jugs the oil would have continued!

Today is the time to activate our faith and obedience. God is our inexhaustible source of provision. We serve a God who can do everything, for him there is nothing impossible! What is impossible for us, God can do beyond what we can imagine. We cannot limit or put a lid on what God wants to do in the situation we face. In the same way that the widow experiences a source of inexhaustible provision; God wants to be our source of provision! All it takes is for us to put our complete dependence on Him.
