Devotional Thoughts:
Constant prayer is imperative to depend on the Holy Spirit. Our continued communion with the Holy Spirit during the day is of the ultimate importance. In Romans 8:26 it tells us, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings’ which cannot be uttered.” Is key to depend on the Holy Spirit and to receive His assistance is prayer without ceasing! It is the most effective and valuable means of communication for every believer who truly desires the fullness of the Holy Spirit over his life.

Prayer is like oxygen to our body, without it we will cease to exist! It is so essential; it is the only way to have a genuine intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Prayer demonstrates our reliance continually to His direction, wisdom and strength. The scripture tells us in Jude 1:20, “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.” It is the guidance of the Holy Spirit that makes prayer effective, His help is what produces answered prayers. We must persevere in prayer and not be discouraged! We must make sure to keep our intimacy with the Holy Spirit continually.

Today like never we need to depend on the Holy Spirit. He is within our reach to help us and assist us in everything we need. He is pleased that we depend on Him in prayer. His presence is felt when we approach him with a broken and humble heart. We need to recognize that we need Him, that without Him we cannot go forward this New Year 2017. Lets make sure that prayer is a priority in our lives today. May this year be filled with a desire to search for more of the Holy Spirit! May we live what Thessalonians 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing.”
