Devotional Thoughts:

This morning, as believers we are armed for battle. The Word of God in our hands is the weapon the Spirit gives us to use as a sharp sword against the opposition of the enemy. In Hebrews 4:12 it tells us, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword; piercing to the division of soul and the spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. “We cannot be at the mercy of the powerful attacks of the enemy; when we have the best offensive weapon!

For every opposition and attack upon our lives, the Holy Spirit has a word in time for our situation. The inspired Word has power! It always fulfills its purpose. In Isaiah 55:11 we are told, “so shall my word be that goes out of my mouth; It shall not return to me void, But it shall be accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent. ”  The sword of the Spirit will prosper our lives; every plan of the enemy will fail with the edge of His sword. We are empowered by the weapon of the Spirit to carry out all that God has promised.

Today as believers we need this sword of the Spirit to combat all the attacks of the enemy, just as Christ used it three times when tempted by the devil. In Matthew 4: 1 it tells us, “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil.”  The temptations and trials without a doubt will come into our lives in 2017; situations that arise to oppose the fulfillment of God’s plan for our lives. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit, using the Word of God that we will be victorious over every challenge we face.

  1. The word is what us Christians must live by, if we do not keep it close to our hearts or even read it then how will we know how to live? I am a firm believe that there is power in the word of god and that it is a mighty weapon that we must use to fight off the enemy!!!
