Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

The Bible warns us in the book of Hebrews of the danger of living our lives with covetousness in our hearts. This warning is very necessary, specially as we look at the times we live in. Scripture warns us “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come” (2 Timothy 3:1). It is then with no doubt very important to guard ourselves of the covetousness that surely abounds and extremely exceeds within the world we live in. The selfishness, greed and disorderly desire to have more has influenced our society in such an alarming way. Not to mention how much it has influenced a great number of believers, to the point of abandoning the ways of The Lord.
We can see that the Hebrews experienced many losses due to their firmness of faith. The Bible teaches us that many of their material goods were taken for the sake of the gospel. We see this, as the author previously brings to their memory saying, “…and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. (Hebreos 10:34b) What great faith of the Hebrew brothers! They didn’t lose their faith, on the contrary we see that their faith was strengthened even when they had to abandon material things, in order to inherit spiritual things. They didn’t allow covetousness for material things to separate them from their faith in God.
Today, we must trust in God’s provision even when we face crisis and difficulty. We must understand that their is no place for covetousness in our lives because according to the word of God, “He will never leave us nor forsake us.” He always promises to be with us and meet every one of our needs. Glory to God! There is no reason to fear, never, because he will always be our provider in every circumstance that we may face. We must never allow possessions to posses us! It is possible to live satisfied with what we have, let us pray today that The Lord would help us to trust in his provision in every moment of our lives.
