This portion of Scripture teaches us, how Jesus after being tempted in the wilderness began his ministry under the anointing and the power of the Holy Spirit. The initiation of His ministry was with great power, in such a way that the news of His works was spread through the whole region. The power of the Holy Spirit was active from the beginning of His ministry in a glorious way. In Matthew 4:24 we read, “Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.”
The power of the Holy Spirit was Jesus’ source of authority. The anointing of the Holy Spirit was what broke all yoke and bondage Jesus faced in his ministry. He depended on the anointing of the Holy Spirit to fulfill the task and work the Father had commissioned. In Acts 10:38 we read how, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” It was the power of the Holy Spirit over his life that released all those afflicted and tormented by the enemy.
Dependence on the Holy Spirit produces supernatural power in our lives. If we put all our trust and dependence on the Holy Spirit, our lives and the lives of those around us will be revolutionized. Everyone who depends on the Holy Spirit will receive the reward of his power and anointing. This is an assured power for those who walk in obedience depending on the Spirit of God daily. Today we have the promise of supernatural power, remember what Acts 1: 8 tells us, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and to the last from the earth.”
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)-8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
