The Bible calls each and every one of us this morning to have an attitude of learning. It’s necessary to understand that our development as believers depends on how open and available we are to learn. There is so much we should learn in our spiritual life, but this will only take place if we take on a posture of learning. The Apostle Paul saw this to be so essential that he instructed his son in the faith Timothy to always maintain a teachable spirit. Paul knew that this would be key if Timothy were to continue to be equipped and enabled in the ministry.
What about us this morning, are we willing to learn? Do we have the desire to hear, learn, and apply what we have been taught? This principle will determine how far we will advance in our spiritual growth. God always surrounds us with people that can help us in our spiritual equipping, and if necessary, bring correction to our lives. As proverbs 1:5 says, “A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel”. But it will all depend on how serious we are about receiving and being teachable. On occasions we miss out on great lessons of learning in life by the simple fact that we are not open to receive from others. There are people that could have receive good advice, but they do not put it into action, because of the lack of having a teachable spirit.
Let us pray this morning that we may never limit our spiritual equipping, because we aren’t teachable. There’s much more to learn in life and ministry! Let’s learn to listen to our Pastors and Leaders that God has placed in our lives. Ask yourself this morning, am I really teachable? Am I open to correction? Don’t forget that if we aren’t teachable we can take a defensive attitude and we will lose another opportunity to learn. Remember Ecclesiastes 12:11, “The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of scholars are like well-driven nails, given by one Shepherd”. Let us determine ourselves to maintain a submissive and teachable spirit. Then we will be able to grow in our spiritual walk with the Lord.

2 Timothy 1:13 (NKJV) — 13 Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 6:12 (NKJV) — 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) — 14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
Proverbs 1:5 (NKJV) — 5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
