Thoughts of Devotion:
The fruit of faithfulness that the Holy Spirit produces in our lives makes us true servants, makes us people who are obedient and committed to the Lord! This was one of the first qualities that Jesus looked for in his disciples. In Matthew 20: 27-28 he tells us, “27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” The commitment and dedication that God seeks in us, will only be able to be carry out with the help and assistance of the Spirit Holy working in our hearts.
Serving is not easy, being faithful to the work of the Lord takes a high level of commitment. Every task and mission that God puts in the heart of the believer will take more than human effort, it will only be done by the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit in us! In 1 Corinthians 4: 1-2 we are told, ” Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
Let us pray this morning that the fruit of the Holy Spirit be present in all that we do for the work of the Lord. That we may be found faithful before the eyes of God! We must always remember that our labor in the flesh will only bring death and dissolution. Nothing good ever comes from just having aspirations and human ambitions in doing something great for the Lord. The Holy Spirit must be at the center of every desire to serve, to be overall servant. This is what God seeks today, men and women who will attain the fruit of the Spirit, to be faithful as He reminds us 2 Timothy 2: 2, “2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
Matthew 25:21 (NKJV) 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
Acts 20:28 (NKJV) 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
1 Corinthians 4:1-2 (NKJV) 1 ” Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
1 Timothy 1:12 (NKJV) 12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,
2 Timothy 2:2 (NKJV) 2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
Matthew 20:27-28 (NKJV) 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
