Thoughts of Devotion:
Faith is the seventh aspect of the fruit of the Holy Spirit quoted in the book of Galatians. In the Book of Hebrews 11:1 the Bible describes a clear definition of faith, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” But in this portion the term faith fundamentally means faithfulness and loyalty. Also the root of the word faith points to a confidence or security to God. This high level of faithfulness and loyalty to God can only be originated by the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Only the fruit of the Holy Spirit can produce faithfulness in us as believers. If it were not for the Spirit’s help, we would have fainted already! Our faithfulness is always limited, but when we have the fullness of the Spirit we can be faithful to the end. We see the example in 2 Timothy 4: 7-8 where Apostle Paul successfully finishing his race faithfully, he declared, “7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
Today we must seek to have the fruit of faithfulness offered by the fruit of the Holy Spirit. We must commit ourselves to remain loyal to God, despite what we are going through! We must remember what 2 Timothy 2: 11-13 tells us, “This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. ” Let us pray today that we may bear the fruit of faith and loyalty. May we be faithful in all our walk with the Lord.
