Thoughts Of Devotion:
A quality that we should all have in our lives is the gratefulness. The Bible calls us to be thankful at all times and in every situation we face in life. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 it says, “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” It is important to understand that one should be grateful for everything, in the good times and difficult situations, because this is what God wants to see in our lives. It is easy to be thankful when things go well, but what about when things are not going as they should?
Gratitude is expressed in the heart, from the depths of our being. Whenever there is a grateful heart, there will be a heart full of praise and worship. Thanks and praise always go hand in hand! As he stated in Ezra 3:11, “And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” Then all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.” It is a fact that when you have gratitude to God, one is going to express it with chants, psalms and praise.
Now is the time to express our gratitude to the Lord. The ability to raise our voices to heaven and declare that God has been good to us. Sometimes it will be bowing our faces and worshiping the Lord as His word teaches us in 2 Chronicles 7: 3, ” When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever.”” Whether we worship with our faces on the earth, or leaping and praising with voices of Jubilee, the Important thing is to raise our gratitude to God and declare how good He has been in our lives.
2 Chronicles 7:3 (NKJV) — 3 When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy enduresforever.”
Ezra 3:11 (NKJV) — 11 And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord: “For He is good, For His mercy enduresforever toward Israel.” Then all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.
