Thoughts of Devotion:
The Holy Spirit always enables us to do good works. He gives us the ability to continually do good to all, especially our family in faith. In Titus 3:14 it tells us, “14 And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful..” As believers filled with the Holy Spirit we must be busy doing good works. This must be our thinking during our day, doing something good for someone! To be able to let the goodness of the Holy Spirit flow through us to those around us.
The proof that we have the fullness of the Holy Spirit is that we will abound in good works. This is what pleases God as it states in Hebrews 13:16, “But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” When we bear fruit of goodness, serving others, loving those who need our understanding and support, this pleases our Father who is in heaven! What we do is like a fragrance of worship before the throne of God. It is more than just doing a good, but at the end of everything is something that pleases God!
Today we must give the fruit of goodness in our lives. Sometimes in our own flesh it may be difficult to always do good, especially when people do not appreciate it! Or even give thanks. But it’s in moments like this that we must remember that we are bearing the fruit of the Spirit and if we really want to be spiritual, then it will take us to surrender to the Holy Spirit! Remember that it is no longer our will, or our emotions, it’s what the Spirit wants to do through our lives. We can not be weary of doing good as 2 Thessalonians 3:13 tells us, “13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.” In God’s time we will reap all the good we have sown in others.
2 Thessalonians 3:13 (NKJV) 13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.
Hebrews 12:3 (NKJV) 3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.
1 Peter 2:15 (NKJV) 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—
1 Peter 3:17 (NKJV) 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
Hebrews 13:16 (NKJV) 16 But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
1 Peter 2:20 (NKJV) 20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
Titus 2:14 (NKJV) 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Titus 3:14 (NKJV) 14 And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
