15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.
The kindness in the life of the believer never renders evil for evil, even when they have done him harm! This is the difference between the way a child of God handles life, and someone who does not know the truths of God. It is very true that we must be different as Matthew 5: 38-39 states, “38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. “
We can never repay another evil with evil. On the contrary we must seek to be peaceful and friendly even with the people who seek to hurt and harm us. In Romans 12: 17-18, we are told, “Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men ” This is a great challenge for us, but it is possible by the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Doing good for a wrong done to us seems to be the most illogical thing one can do in the eyes of the world, but in the light of the Word of God it is the best thing we can do, it is the right thing!
This behavior is not based on an emotion, but on permitting the Holy Spirit to produce the fruit of kindness in us. Something we should never let happen, is let vengeance take over our heart! Many times it will be necessary to leave everything in the hands of the Lord, he will take charge as Romans 12:19 reminds us, “19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.. “Let us pray that this morning we may abandon our own will and allow the Holy Spirit to enable us to conduct ourselves in a spiritual and correct manner.
