Topic: The Example of Kindness, Our Heavenly Father!

Luke 6:35 (NKJV)

Daily Reading plan

Acts 3-4

Bible versions:

Luke 6:35 (NIV) 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

Luke 6:35 (NLT) 35 “Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked.

Luke 6:35 (NASB) 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

Devotional Thoughts:

The greatest example of kindness is our Heavenly Father. The Bible teaches us continually that we serve a God full of kindness and generous to all, including the ungrateful and wicked! He makes no exception to anyone, as Psalm 145: 9 states, “The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works..” What a greater lesson Jesus gave to his disciples. His message to them was, follow the example of the Father! Show love, do good to those who do them wrong. Do not let evil overcome you, but overcome evil with good!

This standard of behavior that is expected of us is something only the Holy Spirit can produce in our lives! We can never do it fully in our own strength, it requires the full help of the Holy Spirit. In Romans 12: 20-21 he tells us, “Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.. “Today it is possible to overcome all evil around us, by what good we do for others.

Every day we see the kindness of God in our surroundings. We can see his goodwill towards all men, his mercy towards all humanity and his grace to those who reject him. He is our example that we must follow in our daily life. If God is good to all, then we should be good and kind to everyone as well. In Galatians 6:10 we are told, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Let us pray that this morning we may yield our will to the Holy Spirit, that it will not be our will but His! In this way we can give the fruit of kindness to our lives.

Inspirational Verses:

Romans 12:20-21 (NKJV) 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good

Psalms 34:8 (NKJV) 8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Galatians 6:10 (NKJV) 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

James 1:27 (NKJV) 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

James 2:15-16 (NKJV) 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

Titus 3:8 (NKJV) 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

Psalms 145:9 (NKJV) 9 The Lord is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works.

Micah 6:8 (NKJV) 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

1 Timothy 6:17 (NKJV) 17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

Thank you Jesus, I surrender my all to you, let it be your will not mine.

  2. Grateful for Our Heavenly Father example..🙏🏼 as he reminds me everyday I wake up, to remember that when I leave, I will not take with me anything I receive, Only what we HAVE GIVEN… 🙌🏼✌🏼📖

  3. Thank you Lord for Your compassion that showers us daily. My prayer today is that I can follow in Your footsteps and be able to have that same compassion with others and for others to have the same compassion with me when I fail them and for me to be able to do the right thing to fix it in the name of Jesus. ❤
