Thoughts of Devotion:
The unity in the body of Christ is possible, it’s not only possible but is very needed in the life of the believer. We see this was Jesus’ prayer for his disciples. In John 17:21 He teaches us as Jesus prayed, “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” God’s will is that we live in unity. A supernatural unity, a unity that is only possible through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
The will of the Holy Spirit is to produce a genuine peace in our lives. When we have peace then we will experience unity in everything we do, including our home and congregation. We will live in peace as 2 Corinthians 13:11 tells us, “Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. “This is the model of believer that we are called to live. We can not walk in discord, or bring division within our family of faith, we are a family united in faith!
Today we should walk in the Spirit producing the fruit of peace in us. May we live what 1 Corinthians 1:10 teaches us, “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” The Holy Spirit wants us to walk perfectly joined together, that we should not be in disagreement! Disunity is work of the flesh, and has no place in the spiritual life of the believer. We pray that today we bring forth the fruit of the Spirit, this is the only way we will be perfectly united in the same mind!
Ephesians 4:4 (NKJV) 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
John 17:21-23 (NKJV) 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me
1 Corinthians 1:10 (NKJV) 10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and thatthere be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 12:12 (NKJV) 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.
1 Corinthians13:11 (NKJV) 11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
Colossians 2:19 (NKJV) 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.
