Romans 14:17 (The Message) — 17 God’s kingdom isn’t a matter of what you put in your stomach, for goodness’ sake. It’s what God does with your life as he sets it right, puts it together, and completes it with joy.
Romans 14:17 (GW) — 17 God’s kingdom does not consist of what a person eats or drinks. Rather, God’s kingdom consists of God’s approval and peace, as well as the joy that the Holy Spirit gives.
This morning it’s possible to have have the joy of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, we could continuously bear this spiritual fruit! Regardless of the circumstances we are going through. We must no longer be living in sorrow, anguish and despair as when we lived our past life without Christ. We have now been transferred to a new spiritual realm as Colossians 1:13 says, “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of his beloved Son.” Now in our hearts the Holy Spirit reins and governs and because of this we are filled with the supernatural joy that only he can give us without measure.
This spiritual joy is what makes a true believer. When we are living a life in the Spirit we are overflowing with joy and gladness. In Acts 2:46 we see that in this way the early Christians lived, “And continuing daily in the temple, and breaking bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” The normal life of every Christian is to be able to be filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit. It is one of the main features of all those who walk in the Spirit on a daily bases. This joy does not depend on the circumstances, but depends on our communion with the Holy Spirit!
Today we can walk in another spiritual dimension. In times when depression and sadness are so common, we can live in another spiritual level! The circumstances don’t have to define our mood and attitude, because we don’t walk by what you see! We walk by faith, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, trusting in His Word. In Romans 15:13 reminds us that, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Let us this morning be filled with the Spirit, if we do, he will surely give us the fruit of joy in our lives.
