Thoughts of Devotion:

The first characteristic of the fruit of the Spirit is Love. This virtue is principal of all others. It is a love that only the Holy Spirit can produce in us. Love is something that every believer should reflect towards God first and then to others. In Matthew 22: 37-40 Jesus tells us, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. “

This love is more than an emotion, it’s a committed love! It is a love that goes beyond feelings, it is a love that only manages to produce with the help and assistance of the Holy Spirit. In 1 John 4: 7-8 reminds us that one of the tests that have been born again, “Beloved, let us love one another; for love it is of God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God; for God is love. “ 

When one is able to think upon the condition that we were in before coming to the Lord, it is a miracle to be able to love as God loves! One may remember before all we had was hate, resentment and anger, but now we can have a supernatural love in the Holy Spirit! This fruit of love is a totally radical change for us as believers. It is one of the signs that the Holy Spirit truly dwells within us. Never forget that all who have been filled with the Holy Spirit can bear the fruit of love in all circumstances we are going through.
