Thoughts Of Devotion:
To understand more of the spiritual fruit that we must give as believers it’s a priority that the process of character formation is taking place in our life. This morning the Holy Spirit desires to work daily in us. From the first day that we begin our Christian walk the Holy Spirit began the work in our hearts with the final goal to achieve of seeing Christ formed in us. That is what 2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” This was the agony of the Apostle Paul towards the believers, to achieve to see the process of formation in the life of his followers.
When we let Christ be formed in our lives we need to understand that we are speaking of a total formation of our character. The character is defined like the total sum of all of the negative and positive things in our lives, developed by the thoughts, motives, attitudes, feelings, and actions. Character is not just an idea of what will be in the future. Character is what one is in present time. It is there where the true person comes out. The person can act one way under the blessings of God, and another way when the trials and afflictions are present in your life.
This morning we must be sincere with ourselves. We cannot lie to ourselves, at the end of the day our character does not lie, but it defines exactly whom we are. The fruit of the Holy Spirit or the works of the flesh will manifest clearly in our lives. It is for this reason that we must be like clay in the hands of the potter, yielding our lives in the hands of the master. That our goal today would be to let the Holy Spirit do what he has to do, whatever the cost! He will always know better than us. We cannot run the risk of holding back in our spiritual growth. Let us be determined to mature and give spiritual fruit this morning!
