Topic: The Holy Spirit Through His Word Produces Fruit
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
Psalm 1:2-3 (NKJV)
Daily Reading Plan
Psalm 1:2-3 (NLT) — 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither and they prosper in all they do.
Psalm 1:2-3 (NIV) — 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.
Psalm 1:2-3 (MSG) — 2-3 Instead you thrill to God’s Word, you chew on Scripture day and night. You’re a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, Never dropping a leaf, always in blossom.
Thoughts Of Devotion:
This morning the Holy Spirit desires that we be like those trees that give much fruit. The Scripture promises us that if we are filled with His Word, we would be like those trees planted next to the edge of the river that always give fruit at its time. In Jeremiah 17:8 it promises us that even through the drought, we will be fruitful, “For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
Today we can give much spiritual fruit in our daily walk. The Holy Spirit desires to produce the fruit of love, joy, peace, kindness, patience, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control in us. This is the challenge for us, to be trees that abound in fruit! This fruit is only possible when we spend time in intimacy with the Holy Spirit and in his Word daily. Outside of this it is impossible to develop the spiritual fruit in our lives. In John 15:5, Jesus himself tells us, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
This morning we must be planted and have spiritual roots, the key is to plant yourself and not move from the spiritual fertile ground! If we desire to flourish and be fruitful there needs to be deep roots in intimate communion with the Holy Spirit, filling ourselves with the Word that has been inspired by Him! In Psalms 92:12-13 it promises us that, The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.” Today is the time to flourish in our spiritual lives, only then will we be prospered in all that we set out to do!

Psalm 119:72 (NKJV) — 72 The law of Your mouth is better to me Than thousands of coins of gold and silver.
Romans 7:22 (NKJV) — 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.
Colossians 3:16 (NKJV) — 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
1 John 5:3 (NKJV) — 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
Psalm 92:14 (NKJV) — 14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,
Colossians 1:5-6 (NKJV) — 5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit,as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;
