Thoughts Of Devotion:
If you take a pause this morning you will be able to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit calling you to spend time alone with Him. His voice will only be heard when we lend our ears to hear, when we leave the bustle of everyday life and the toil of this world! In Hebrews 3:15 he tells us, “I while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” Today we cannot ignore, or fall into a spiritual deafness. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to speak into our lives, transforming our heart to be sensitive to his voice.
One may ask, where is it that I will hear his sweet voice? It will will be in the intimate place of his presence, in that place of sweet communion, that time alone with Him, having a spiritual feast in his presence! The invitation of the Holy Spirit is to come and dine with him, come and spend some time alone by yourself in his presence, You and him alone! No one else, without interruption or distraction. The idea is to dine and fellowship having communion, without being in a hurry around the dinner table like good friends. Able to talk with Him on how your day has been, sharing about those things that concern you, letting him give you advice on what to do!
A spiritual intimacy, in the words of Solomon, will be “Like an apple tree among the trees of the woods, So is my beloved among the sons. I sat down in his shade with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. 4 He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.” (Song of Solomon 2: 3-4). Today we have the privilege of hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit in the midst of a loud and boisterous world. But in order for this to happen we must get out of our routine, our busy life and run to him and enjoy his sweet communion. Take the invitation, hear his voice, It’s time to dine in his presence!
