Thoughts Of Devotion:

Our time with God is very special, nothing in this world can compare to the experience of prayer! We see that our greatest example of prayer is Jesus. He would continually practice prayer in his earthly life. Prayer was not only part of his life, but it was all his life! On occasions He would get up early to pray, “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” (Mark 1:35). Jesus also spent a whole night in prayer, as Luke 6:12 declares, “Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”

What a powerful example of prayer we have in Jesus! The communion that He had with our heavenly Father was unique, it was very special and something the disciples desired to possess for themselves. In Luke 11:1 they begged Jesus to teach them to pray, ““Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” They asked for something so special from the master, their petition was please teach us to pray! The disciples had a hunger, a desire, a very intense passion to acquire an intimate and personal life of prayer with the Father.

I ask myself, do we have the same desire to take our prayer life to another level? Do we desire to grow in our prayer life? We have a great model today, Jesus! He desires that we learn to pray daily. Let’s take time today to pray, this prayer, Lord teach me to pray! If we are going to mature and grow in prayer, we must learn from our model, Jesus. He desires to take us by the hand into the school of prayer; this process will surely change our life, and make an impact the world that we live in. By his Holy Spirit we will be able to go to another level in our communion and intimacy with Him.

Foundational Scriptures:

Job 37:19 (NKJV) — 19 “Teach us what we should say to Him, For we can prepare nothing because of the darkness.

Zacharias 12:10 (NKJV) — 10 “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

Psalms 19:14 (NKJV) — 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
