Thoughts Of Devotion:
In reading this scripture today I ask myself, how do we consider our walk in this world? Do we see it as something temporary or something permanent? In answering this question correctly it will determine how we conduct ourselves here on this earth. The Bible is very clear in describing our lives as pilgrimage and temporary. A life where we are only passing by! Our permanent residence is in heaven. In living this as a truth, it will conduce us to live our lives holy for God. A life that reflects separation from the world and its contamination. Living far from the desires of the world!
The Bible is very clear when it tells us that we cannot live the rest of our days according to our own passions and impulses. Those which can take us to fall into the sins of the past. On the contrary the Lord challenges us to live lives in line with the will of God. As it declares in 1 Peter 4:2, “that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.” We must determine ourselves to live the days that we have left pleasing God in our way of living, walking in the Spirit daily!
Every day we will have to overcome the desires and passions that would want to separate us from God. The battle will be intense and contrary to walking in the Spirit as it declares in Galatians 5:17, “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.” Let us pray that with the help and strength of the Holy Spirit we will achieve to overcome the desires of the flesh every day. Those desires that continually oppose to us walking in holiness. This is a decision that only we can take, and in doing so we will experience great spiritual blessing, we will achieve great victories!
