The work of The Holy Spirit is very evident throughout any move of God in His people. Whenever there is a spiritual revival among the people of God, the Holy Spirit is present. Not only filling and refreshing lives, but above all his primary work is to bring conviction to the hearts. In John 16:8, we are told, “and when he comes, will convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment”. The work of The Holy Spirit is to bring a genuine conviction of sin! When a person is far from the ways of The Lord, it’s the Holy Spirit that convicts the heart to reach a genuine repentance.
Thank God for the work of the Holy Spirit in these days we live in. Today, we can trust that the Holy Spirit is actively working to bring conviction to those hearts who go astray from the ways of The Lord. Just as the Apostle Paul preached and people fell under the conviction of the Holy Spirit, God desires to do this today. We see the example of Governor Felix, who came under conviction after Paul preached the Word, “Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you”(Acts 24:25).
When the conviction of The Spirit is present, the result will be a spiritual revival. I wonder, how much we need the move of The Holy Spirit in our midst? Clearly, without the conviction of the Holy Spirit, there will be no spiritual awakening! It is only when the Spirit is at work that people are convicted of their sins, and anyone who walks indifferent to the things of God is touched by His presence. Let us pray today that we always be open to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. That we become sensitive to His voice and His work in our hearts.
John 16:8 (NKJV) — And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
John 8:9 (NKJV) — Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
Acts 24:25 (NKJV) — Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.”
1 Corinthians 14:25 (NKJV) — And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you.
