Daily Reading Plan
Luke 11:13 (NLT) ― 13 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
Luke 11:13 (NIV) ― 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Luke 11:13 (MSG) — 13 As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing—you’re at least decent to your own children. And don’t you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him?”
Thoughts Of Devotion:
The Father is anxious to give us the Spirit; all we have to do is ask! It is as simple is that, it is not difficult, just ask and you will receive the promise of the Holy Spirit. In these previous verses we read, “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?” (Luke 11:9-12)
When one come before God and asks, one is humbling oneself and recognized that all good things come from God! Only he can grant us his precious Spirit. In James 1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” When our faith and dependence is in Him we can ask with security and with all of our heart that he will pour out his Spirit without a limit over us! Without a doubt he will give us the best gift in the world, the gift of gifts, his Holy Spirit to abide and make a dwelling place in our hearts!
This morning what God desires to give us is his presence; the greatest gift from God is the presence of the Holy Spirit. Through his presence we will be transformed and we will transform the world that surrounds us! We will be men and women that will fulfill the mission of Jesus with the anointing and under the power of the Holy Spirit. The only requirement today is that we ask the Father, seek his face and we will be compensated in his presence. All we have to do to receive it this morning is to ask and he will give it to us, whoever asks, will receive it!
Genesis 6:5-6 (NKJV) ― 5 Then the Lord[a] saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV) ― 9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?
Matthew 7:11 (NKJV) ― 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Hebrews 12:9-10 (NKJV) ― 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.
Romans 3:23 (NKJV) ― 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 8:32 (NKJV) ― 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NKJV) ― 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.
John 4:10 (NKJV) ― 10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
John 14:16-17 (NKJV) ― 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
James 1:17 (NKJV) ― 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
