Thoughts Of Devotion:
The Apostle Peter for the first time proclaimed publicly and openly to all the listeners of the great event of the resurrection of Jesus. He shares the central message of the Book of Acts, the resurrection of Jesus! Without the message of the resurrection, everything would be in vain as 1 Corinthians 15:14-15 states, “And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise.” Everyone had to know that Jesus did not stay in the grave, but on the contrary the Father brought him to life on the third day!
It was important that everyone that heard the preaching of the Apostle Peter understood that God himself rose Jesus from the dead. In Acts 2:10 he emphasizes it once again, “let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.” It is for this reason that death could not hold Jesus in the tomb! The power of the Spirit rose Christ from the dead and is now declared Lord over all.
The power that was manifested when Jesus rose from the dead is in our reach and dwells in each of us. The Holy Spirit that abides in our hearts imparts life in our mortal bodies. In Romans 8:11 it tells us, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Today we have a new life, a life where we are no longer dominated by our flesh, on the contrary the Spirit fills us with his power inside to walk in new life.
