John 14:17 (MSG) 17 This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can’t take him in because it doesn’t have eyes to see him, doesn’t know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!
Thoughts of Devotion:
For those who have known Jesus as Savior of our lives, we possess the blessing and privilege of having the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. This is something that the world cannot receive, the reason being that they do not possess a spiritual life, this experience is exclusively for those who have believed in him! The third person of the trinity, the Holy Spirit has made a dwelling place in our hearts. Through him we have the power and the capacity to overcome everything the enemy throws in our lives. In 1 John 4:4 it tells us, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
It is important to remember and always be conscious of this blessing, but at the same time take spiritual responsibility of this truth. We do not belong to ourselves, all of our being belongs exclusively and total to God. We are property of the Holy Spirit, we were bought at a price as it tells us in 1 Corinthian 6:19-20, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
What a security we have as believers today if the Holy Spirit dwells in us, there is nothing that can achieve to overcome us in this world! Only through his dwelling in us, we can obtain the power necessary to be witnesses of Him. In this world so affected by sin, with so much need and misery, the only thing that will bring relief to humanity is an army of people filled with the Holy Spirit! Those believers under the influence and the power of the Holy Spirit over their lives. The promise of Acts 1:8 tells us, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
The promise of the Holy Spirit is for us today His presence will make a great difference in our lives. We cannot forget, or even ignore the immense blessing, and the great privilege of having the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. In 1 Corinthians 3:16 it tells us, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” It is important to understand this truth, we are dwelling place of the Holy Spirit! Through his dwelling we can enjoy an intimate relationship with Him. Let us pray to always be conscious of the activity of the Holy Spirit inside of us, that our life will continually be living a testimony of his presence dwelling in us.
