Thoughts of Devotion:

Today the Holy Spirit desires to have a more intimate and personal relationship with each one of us. If we pay attention to his voice we can hear him say, come and spend time with me! In Revelations 3:20 it tells us, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” This is a very personal and intimate invitation which the Holy Spirit making to us today. Such an intimate relationship is reachable for all of us. The call this morning is a call to draw much closer, a deep intimacy with the Holy Spirit.

The Word intimacy speaks to us about a relationship, a devotion, a daily familiarity with the Holy Spirit. Each day we can go to our secret place of prayer and enjoy a time alone with the Lord, what a special privilege! Intimacy is so special and unique, that the Holy Spirit has made a dwelling place in each of us. In 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”

If we only respond to the call of communion in our lives we will be transformed. A complete transformation in our person. We would be transformed while being in communion with the Holy Spirit. A radical and complete transformation! People in our surroundings will observe another person in us, a person more in the image of Christ. It is impossible to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit and remain the same, his presence has the power to transform lives. In 2 Corinthians 3:18 it tells us, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

The first step to experiment another level in our walk with the Lord is intimacy with the Holy Spirit! There are things that will happen in our lives, but it’s not until we make a priority to spend quality time alone with Him. Let us take the challenge to know him daily, to enter a place where communion with him is something we reach everyday. Psalms 25:14 tells us, “The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.” Let us pray that today we will take the challenge to know God more, that we will respond to the invitation that the Holy Spirit makes to us today!

Foundational Scriptures:

John 4:10 (NKJV) — 10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

John 4:14 (NKJV) — 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

John 7:38-39 (NKJV) — 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing[a] in Him would receive; for the Holy[b] Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

John 14:16-18 (NKJV) — 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Romans 8:9 (NKJV) — But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

Romans 8:15-16 (NKJV) — 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (NKJV) — 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (NKJV) — 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV) — 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Ephesians 2:21-22 (NKJV) — 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Philippians 2:1-2 (NKJV) — 2 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

1 John 1:3 (NKJV) — that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

1 John 3:24 (NKJV) — 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
