Thoughts of Devotion:
Today the Holy Spirit desires to have a more intimate and personal relationship with each one of us. If we pay attention to his voice we can hear him say, come and spend time with me! In Revelations 3:20 it tells us, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” This is a very personal and intimate invitation which the Holy Spirit making to us today. Such an intimate relationship is reachable for all of us. The call this morning is a call to draw much closer, a deep intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
The Word intimacy speaks to us about a relationship, a devotion, a daily familiarity with the Holy Spirit. Each day we can go to our secret place of prayer and enjoy a time alone with the Lord, what a special privilege! Intimacy is so special and unique, that the Holy Spirit has made a dwelling place in each of us. In 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”
If we only respond to the call of communion in our lives we will be transformed. A complete transformation in our person. We would be transformed while being in communion with the Holy Spirit. A radical and complete transformation! People in our surroundings will observe another person in us, a person more in the image of Christ. It is impossible to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit and remain the same, his presence has the power to transform lives. In 2 Corinthians 3:18 it tells us, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
The first step to experiment another level in our walk with the Lord is intimacy with the Holy Spirit! There are things that will happen in our lives, but it’s not until we make a priority to spend quality time alone with Him. Let us take the challenge to know him daily, to enter a place where communion with him is something we reach everyday. Psalms 25:14 tells us, “The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.” Let us pray that today we will take the challenge to know God more, that we will respond to the invitation that the Holy Spirit makes to us today!
