Thoughts of Devotion:
The mission of Jesus is for all the world, all of the nations were going to be impacted by the message of the Gospel! The commission given by the Lord was very clear, “and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:47) The disciples were not only going to evangelize in Jerusalem, but their task was to go to the ends of the earth. We can see on the day of Pentecost, the moment when the Holy Spirit was outpoured there were already representatives of the three continents such as Asia, Africa, and Europe. The mission of the apostles was to go to the whole world, but on that day people from all over the world were already in Jerusalem.
Everything was taking place from the first day of the mission of Jesus, we see more than fifteen civilized nations hearing the wonders of God in their own native tongues. The disciples filled with the Holy Spirit miraculously proclaimed the Gospel simultaneously to people from different nationalities. The Gospel was universal, it wasn’t just going to be something local! The people’s race, color, nationality, or language didn’t matter, the message of salvation was for everyone. In Acts 1:8 the promise was, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Today we are called to the nations, the gospel is universal. Everyone must hear the wonders of God in their own language. Our vision is the entire world, not just one nation or continent! If we hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, we will be able to hear the call to the nations. Every creature must have the opportunity to hear the good news of salvation. The great commission for us today is Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” It is time to go, the nations are waiting for us.
Matthew 28:19 (NKJV) — 19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mark 16:15 (NKJV) — 15And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Luke 24:47 (NKJV) — 47and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Romans 1:5 (NKJV) — 5Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name,
Acts 1:8 (NKJV) — 8But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Romans 10:8 (NKJV) — 8But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
Colossians 1:23 (NKJV) — 23if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
