And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.

Thoughts of Devotion:
At the moment when the Holy Spirit was poured out, the impact was felt throughout the city of Jerusalem! It was very evident something supernatural was taking place since the sound was heard throughout everywhere. The impact was going to stretch to the ends of the earth as Jesus said in Mathew 24:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
Every person who heard the sound of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was impacted through the supernatural occurrence that took place. They couldn’t explain what was happening, the disciples who were baptized by the Holy Spirit captured the attention of the multitudes! They were evidently filled by the Spirit that they started speaking in different tongues according to what the Spirit gave them to speak. This occurrence left all those that heard perplexed, they asked themselves, what is happening with these men and women? The response was very simple, the Holy Spirit had come upon them and now the program was totally different!
Due to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit the signs were going to follow the disciples, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18) The power from on high had descended and the disciples were going to fulfill the great commission that they had from Jesus. The era of the Spirit had begun and everything was going to be different. Wherever they went, things weren’t going to stay the same as Acts 17:6 tells us, “But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.”
Let us pray this morning that we would be able to make an impact wherever we are. The believer that is baptized by the Holy Spirit cannot stay silent, he cannot remain a normal Christian, we must be radical for Christ! It is time to impact cities and communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
