Thoughts Of Devotion:
Finally the time had come for the fulfillment of the promise, the Holy Spirit was going to be poured out in a special way! The most important event of the Book of Acts was about to happen. This was going to mark the birth of the church, the era of the Holy Spirit was going to begin, and a spiritual revolution was going to start in Jerusalem. Before this, there were many days of preparation, all of the disciples were together once more, in the same way as in Acts 1:14 , “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.”
The disciples were not only united in the same place, but more importantly they were united and bonded together spiritually! The spiritual unity was so important, it was something essential and primary if the prophetic plan of God was going to take place. In Psalms 133:1-2 it tells us, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.” God always blesses unity, it was the key to see the outpouring of the Holy Spirit over the disciples.
Today we are called to walk in a spirit of unity with our brothers and sisters. There are so many things that are going to try to separate and divide us, but we must always seek unity in the church as priority! To be of one heart and one soul like it tells us in Acts 4:32, “Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.” Let us pray that unity will be something that marks our lives, that we will be able to put aside our indifference and love one another as God’s family, the Holy Spirit calls us to remain united as one body in Christ Jesus.
