Thoughts of Devotion:
The disciples after arriving in Jerusalem, climbed into an upper room, a high floor of the house where they were staying. They in obedience to the instructions of Jesus would wait in prayer for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit! In this verse we see those who begin the Christian movement, the birth of the church. These men were to witness the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon their lives. They were to be the pioneers of revival, a great movement that would touch the four corners of the earth, whose mission was to impact the world today.
This was the leadership team that would lead the mission of Jesus. Their lives were no longer the same, in witness the risen Christ, now their task would be to witness for Him! A small group of humble people with few resources and little training, but nevertheless with the potential to carry out the mission given by Jesus. These were the instruments that God choose, “For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;”(1 Corinthians 1: 26-27).
This morning God wants to raise those instruments that will be pioneers of revival. Those who can unite with what the Holy Spirit is doing in our time. Men and women who want more of God in their lives. They are not satisfied with the ordinary, but who want to be radical and burn with the passion of Christ in their lives. These are times where we will make history; the Holy Spirit will be poured out upon our lives, church and ministry. It is not time to take a step back or get behind in our task, It’s time to move on and fulfill the mission of Jesus in our time!
Matthew 10:2-4 (NKJV) ―2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was[a] Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Cananite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.
John 14:8-9 (NKJV) ― 8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
John 14:22 (NKJV) ― 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”
John 20:28-29 (NKJV) ― 28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Acts 3:1 (NKJV) ― 3 Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

James 1:1 (NKJV) ― 1 James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings.
