Thoughts of Devotion:
After Jesus’ ascension, he instructed the disciples to return to Jerusalem. That was the place where the Lord would pour out His Spirit upon them, his promise was specified as Luke 24:49 tells us, “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” They returned to Jerusalem with a sense of expectation, hope and confidence. Although the Lord Jesus had left this earth to eternity, the promise had been given!
Jesus would no leave them alone, the Comforter, the Holy Spirit would come to them and be with them to fulfill the great commission. It’s for this reason that they returned with great joy and gladness as described in Luke 24: 50-52, “And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.” Their hearts jumped for joy, to see what God would be doing in their midst. A period of transition and great opportunities awaited them.
What about us this morning, do we have this joy of anticipation and expectation of what God will do in us? I think the time will come where God will pour out His Spirit without measure upon our lives. The glory of God will fill us in a special way. My prayer is that our hearts are filled with joy, joy anticipating the great things in faith that the Lord will do in our midst. It reminds me of the words of Nehemiah, “Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10).
Praise God! We must prepare ourselves for the great spiritual feast that God has prepared for our lives; there is no time to be sad! We must rejoice and receive the strength, the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

John 14:28 (NKJV) ― 28 You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.
