The Ascencion And The Promise

Study of the Book of Acts

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Acts 1:6-11 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Job 40-42

Principles To Apply In Our Lives

  1. Today, we have a clear and defined focus, and it is spiritual, not earthly! We have received an immovable and eternal kingdom. Acts 1:6-7 (NKJV) Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.

  2. Today, we also need the power of the Holy Spirit. Without it, it will be impossible to accomplish the mission! More than any other thing, we need to be invested with His power. Acts 1:8 (NKJV) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

  3. We are the chosen witnesses of the Holy Spirit. We have orders from on high to impact the nations for Christ. The call is to be witnesses. It is time to stand up and take this challenge of being obedient to the Great Commission. Acts 1:8 (NKJV) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

  4. Today we have Jesus at the right hand of the Father interceding for us, his ministry continues for eternity. The Father has now exalted Him to the uttermost, giving him a special place, a place of authority and power. Acts 1:9 (NKJV) Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

  5. Jesus is coming son and the day will come when he takes us and we will be with him for eternity. But until that day comes, the mission remains at hand! Acts 1:11 (NKJV) 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Leadership Principles of the Book of Acts

2nd Principle: Being A Leader Is More Than A Talent, One Must Be Gifted With The Power Of The Holy Spirit!

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
