Thoughts of Devotion:

The Church of the Book of Acts was a church that was united and in one accord. All the believers were together, united in one mind carrying out the mission of Jesus. They were a living demonstration of the prayer Jesus did  in John 17:23, ” I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” The vision of Jesus for his church was that they stand united, only then will they be able to meet the mission and reaching a world in need!

It was when they were united that the Holy Spirit descended on them. In Acts 2:1-2 it tells us, “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.” God blesses unity; it pleases him when there is a sincere and genuine unity among God’s people. Only when there is unity is it that God moves and demonstrates his power and anointing. Without unity we cannot accomplish the mission before us!

The prayer of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:10 was that the church would remain united despite the opposition, “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” Today, we cannot walk in disunity with our brothers and sisters in the faith, division is not of God! The Lord wants to build a church where we are all united, with one mind and one heart. A church that is united in the Spirit can never be defeated, but will fulfill the mission of Jesus!
