Thoughts of Devotion:
As a ministry, God has called us to be a church with a heart for the world. So was the model of the early church! It had a mission, a very defined vision, precise and specific, to fulfill the great commission that Jesus had given them. But for this to be carried out, we need to be a base church, a ministry that has the resources, leaders and workers to mobilize and commissioned to the ends of the earth. Today is the time for us to build a model church, a church that is driven by the mission to reach the nations.
Today our Lord Jesus Christ leaves us a model church in the pages of the Book of Acts. A model is, “the example to follow, a design pattern, is an attempt to produce something like a representation that symbolizes perfection in all aspects, which serves as an inspiration to follow.” For us the church in the Book of Acts is an example. Only that way can we build the church in Matthew 16:18, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
We are called to be triumphant, victorious, an overcoming church, a church with a mission, with the great commission in its heart pounding. And the authority has been given to us, ” And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go thereforeand make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” God challenges us to be faithful, to obey the great task of building his church. There is much work in the Lord’s house and contribution of our gifts, resources and talent is required.
Acts 2:41 (NKJV) ―41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
Acts 4:4 (NKJV) ― 4 However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.
Acts 6:7 (NKJV) ― 7 Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
Acts 12:24 (NKJV) ― 24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.
John 15:5 (NKJV) ― 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
1 Corinthians 3:7 (NKJV) ― 7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
