Thoughts Of Devotion:

The Church of the Book of Acts was a church were many miracles and wonders took place. God did many wonders and signs through the life of the apostles. It was very clear that God was with them! In Acts 14:3 it tells us, “Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.” The disciples were the instruments that the Spirit of Lord used to do great works.

The signs and wonders were something that characterized the early church. The wonders of God always followed the preaching of the gospel. Miracles were extraordinary, beyond normal as Acts 19:11-12 reads, “Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.” Many were amazed at what their eyes were seeing and desired to know more of the gospel, they recognized that the gospel was real and powerful!

Today we are called to walk in the power of God. The church should be a place where God performs miracles and great wonders. There is much need in the world in which we live in and people urgently need to experience the power of God in their lives. God’s promise in Mark 16:17-18 is for us, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” God left us a model in the Book of Acts, We must believe God that these signs will follow us today!
