From Glory To Glory

Topic: Spiritual Growth Is A Continual Experience

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

1 Chronicles 17-19

Bible Versions:

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT) — So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (MSG) — Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.

Devotional Thought:

In studying the subject of being more like Jesus, it’s very important to understand that being made in his image and likeness is a lifelong process. This is a truth we cannot deny! Since we came to the knowledge of the Gospel, The Lord started a process of formation in us that takes a lifetime. The Lord continually desires to work in us, so we may be formed more and more into His image and likeness. A task, which if we are honest, is not easy. Sometimes it may even seem impossible, especially when we see our character, attitudes and actions that we take every day in our lives.

When thinking about this process, we should thank God for his patience and forbearance, which He shows to us every day. We are grateful that He has not abandoned or left us in the same condition that we were in the past. But instead, we are becoming more like Him daily! It is the Holy Spirit’s work that daily changes and transforms us to become more like Jesus. Only the Holy Spirit can do the work of transformation in us. But for this to take place, it’s always going to require that we yield our lives entirely into His hands so that His glorious transformation can take place.

The truth is we cannot conform to the mold of this world, this is the worst mistake we can make. This will surely stop our progress and growth. Romans 12:2 reminds us, “Be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, pleasing and perfect.” The Holy Spirit want transform us today more into the image of Jesus! God desire is that we be more like him and less like this world in which we live.

The word of the day is, progress! advancement! This is what God wants for us. His will is for us to go from glory to glory. In Proverbs 4:18 His word says “But the path of the righteous is as the shining light, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” Pray today that we do not become stuck in the growing process, the will of God is that we increase every day!

Topical References:

2 Corinthians 4:6 (NKJV) — For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) — And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
