The Mercy Of The Lord

Topic: God Shows Mercy To Those Who Fear Him

But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children,

Psalms 103:17 (NKJV)

Plan De Lectura Diaria

1 Kings 22

Bible Versions:

Psalms 103:17 (MSG) — God ’s love, though, is ever and always, eternally present to all who fear him, Making everything right for them and their children.

Psalms 103:17 (NLT) — But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children.

Psalms 103:17 (NIV) — But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord ’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children.

Devotional Thought:

There are only a few things that are eternal and remain forever. In the world we live in, it is difficult at times to grasp the eternal things, for the reason that we are surrounded by temporary things that consume us daily. Material things that many of us give great value to. Thinking about this reminds me of the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:18, “while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal”. There are eternal things that will never end, never cease to exist.

One of these things that are eternal and will never end, is the mercy of God. On how many occasions has God extended His mercy to us? How many times did we not deserve God’s judgment, but God showed His mercy? The prophet Jeremiah declared, “The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you” (Jeremiah 31:3). The Lord desires to demonstrate his mercy, love, compassion, kindness and patience toward those who fear him today! we should be grateful, that His mercy never ceases to be, He is merciful.

But, the full mercy of God is reserved for those who fear him. Those who reverence Him and walk in His fear. They are the ones who will see the mercy of God on their lives! In Exodus 20:6 the Lord tells us, “but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments”. Let us never forget that the key to see all the mercy of God upon us, is to fear and keep His Word. Pray this day that we never stop living under the mercy of the Lord. Today, may we put our eyes on eternal things, and not on temporary things.
