The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

1 Kings 8
Genesis 6:5–6 (MSG) — GOD saw that human evil was out of control. People thought evil, imagined evil—evil, evil, evil from morning to night. GOD was sorry that he had made the human race in the first place; it broke his heart.
Genesis 6:5–6 (NLT) — The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.
Genesis 6:5–6 (AMP) — The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination and intention of all human thinking was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved at heart.
What must God see when he puts his eyes on this world? It is a sad reality, but the conditions have not changed much, humanity is still sunk in wickedness. Even Matthew 24:37-38 says, “But as the days of Noah, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man. For as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark”. This is the sad condition of humanity today, a state of continuous evil and perversity!
God’s heart was in pain ,”broken and saddened”, to see the miserable state of humanity in this world. It was so much pain that even this portion of the Bible tells us that He regretted having created man and put them on earth. Psalm 14:2-3 says, “The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. All have turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is none who does good, not even one.”
What about us, are we part of those who broke God’s heart? It’s sad, when wickedness and sin comes to dominate our life as believers. When we are bound by the same condition of evil and sin of this world. This saddens the Lord, his heart aches to see our condition. This is why Ephesians 4:30 tells us, “do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Today is the day to change our course and rid ourselves of all sin that we may have. That when the Lord may look at us, we may have a consecrated life, living in holiness before him.
Isaiah 63:10 (NKJV) — But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; So He turned Himself against them as an enemy, And He fought against them.

Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV) — And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Psalms 53:2 (NKJV) — God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
