Thoughts of Devotion:
God’s call in this morning is to get closer to Him daily. I wonder, have you felt the absence of His presence in your life? It is a reality that sometimes we feel that God has turned away, or has distant Himself from our lives. But this is a result of our departure from Him. In 1 Chronicles 28:9 it tells us, “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.“
God wants us to live close to His presence, that we enjoy His communion daily! But it will be necessary for us to take the first step. It is our responsibility to get closer to God. The principle is very simple, if only you approach Him, then He will approach you! Today is the time to take the first step to experience His presence over your life. In Zechariah 1:3 it reminds us of this, “Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Return to Me,” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts.”
As we approach God it is important to examine and purify ourselves from all things that He does not like. In 2 Corinthians 7:1 it tells us, “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” If we are honest there are things that have alienated us from God. Some things we’ll have to leave so that God’s presence will be a reality in our lives. Today the Holy Spirit calls us to a more intimate communion with the Father, We must answer to His call!
Zechariah 1:3 (NKJV) — 3 Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Return to Me,” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts.
Jeremiah 4:14 (NKJV) — 14 O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, That you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?
1 Chronicles 28:9 (NKJV) — 9 “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.
2 Chronicles 15:2 (NKJV) — 2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.
