Grace To Help In Time Of Need

Topic: God Encourages Us To Depend On Him

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

1 Kings 1-2

Bible Versions:

Hebreos 4:16 (MSG) — So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.

Hebreos 4:16 (NLT) — So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Hebreos 4:16 (AMP) — Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

Devotional Thoughts:

The Lord offers us a special invitation today. He invites us to come boldly to the throne of grace. His promise for each of us is that he will always be within reach. All it takes is for us to approach the throne of grace. Every day He waits for us to seek Him in the midst of our need and problem. We have no reason to run anywhere else, only the Lord! His promise to those that depend on Him is, “Before they call I will answer, while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24).

What a blessing it is to have to have a place to run and find refuge this morning. Having full confidence in approaching God in times of need is a great privilege. No matter if its day or night, we have access at all times to God’s help for our situation. Even Scripture invites us to completely  depend on Him! Just when we most need God’s intervention there He is, grace is available to help and intervene on our behalf. He does not leave us Psalm 9:10, declares, “And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.”

I wonder, in whom else can we trust? Whom can we depend on during times of great trial? The answer through the years remains the same, only God! He offers us His mercy and grace to face any difficult situation in our walk with Him. It only take for us to approach Him without restrictions, honestly, and boldly. If we do this we will find the help we need. Never forget that those who depend on Him, will never be ashamed! His grace will sustain us through what we are going through. Pray that we never stop depending on God, to depend on others. Remember what the Bible tells us, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust the name of the Lord our God” (Psalm 20:7).

Topical References:

Deuteronomy 8:3 (NKJV) — So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

Psalms 9:10 (NKJV) — And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Psalms 20:7 (NKJV) — Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

Hebrews 13:6 (NKJV) — So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Isaiah 65:24 (NKJV) — “It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.
