The Wicked One Does Not Touch Him

Topic: He who is born of God is guarded by Him!

18 We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.

1 John 5:18 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

1 Samuel 21-23

Bible Versions:

1 John 5:18 (MSG) — 18 We know that none of the God-begotten makes a practice of sin—fatal sin. The God-begotten are also the God-protected. The Evil One can’t lay a hand on them.

1 John 5:18 (NLT) — 18 We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them.

1 John 5:18 (NIV) — 18 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.

Thoughts Of Devotion:

Thank God for His keeping power! God has protected us and we are confident in Him! We are His sons and we are born of Him, therefore we are confident that He keep us from the evil one. In 1 John 5: 4 it promises us, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” We’re not at the mercy of the enemy, on the contrary we are winners and we walk in victory! We have the power to overcome sin and live pleasant lives before God.

The world will live under the dominion of the enemy, but we are different! The power of God protects us every day of our lives as it is stated in Jude 24, “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.” Today we can be sure that as children of God, we can walk in the new life that Jesus has given us. There is no reason why we must live in fear, under oppression or the enemy’s lies! God is able to keep us from all evil.

Sin must not lord over us. If indeed we are born again we will need to walk in the new life God offers us. We must have assured that the enemy will try to rob us of life in abundance, but if we stand firm in Christ we are confident that at the end of every battle we will come out more than conquerors. In Romans 16:20 His Word tells us, “And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.” Today we must persevere and not let the enemy rob us, He belongs beneath our feet!

Foundational Scriptures:

1 John 3:9 (NKJV) — Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

1 John 2:13 (NKJV) — 13 I write to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, Because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, Because you have known the Father.

1 John 5:4 (NKJV) — For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

John 17:15(NKJV) — 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

John 17:12 (NKJV) — 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

Jude 24 (NKJV) — 24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,

Romans 16:20 (NKJV) — 20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Job 1:12 (NKJV) — 12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV) — 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

James 4:7 (NKJV) — Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
