Put On The New Man

Topic: Take Off The Old And Put On The New Man

Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

Colossians 3:9-10 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Judges 1-3

Bible Versions:

Colossians 3:9-10 (MSG) —9-10 Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old life. It’s like a filthy set of ill-fitting clothes you’ve stripped off and put in the fire. Now you’re dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it.

Colossians 3:9-10 (NLT) — Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. 10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

Thoughts of Devotion:

The Bible calls us to put off the old man and put on the new. This is a decision that we all must make, if we truly want to live the new life in Christ! Life in abundance only comes when we discard the old nature. In Ephesians 4:22 it tells us, “that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.” Now is the time to break old habits, and bad habits to experience all the new things God has prepared for our lives.

God calls us to walk into a new life, where we can completely dress ourselves of the new man in Christ Jesus. In Colossians 3:12 it says, “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering.” This is the challenge we face daily, to be able to be more like Jesus in everything we do! To dress as God’s chosen is to walk an exemplary life to others. That in people seeing people our lives, they will achieve to recognize the change that the Lord has done for us.

For this we were created in Christ, to be a light in the darkness! Our Gospel is not only words but deeds. In Ephesians 2:10 it says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” On this day we walk in newness of life that the Lord has prepared beforehand. Achieving to live the new life to the fullest, it will require us to discard everything old! Take the challenge to break the molds of the past and be dressed in the new that God has prepared in our future. The best is yet to come! Amen.
