Thoughts of Devotion:
The new birth in Christ is something that is sometimes difficult to understand for some people. Even the Bible teaches us that Nicodemus, a very religious man, could not understand this truth! In John 3:4 it says, “Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus spoke to Nicodemus of a new spiritual birth, and not an earthly birth. This new birth only happens when Christ comes into our lives and makes us completely new people. We are born again in Christ Jesus!
By coming to salvation in Christ we have moved to a new life, we become partakers of a new nature. In 2 Peter 1:4 it says, “by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature…” When we come to Christ there is a radical change, we become completely new people. We have now acquired new criteria, new affections, new interests, everything is brand new! From the depths of our being, our inner man has been made alive again in Christ Jesus. A new nature, we’ve born from above!
When we experience the new birth in Christ, then we know a new dimension of life. It is a life beyond the natural, it’s a walk in the supernatural! It is a faith dimension where everything is completely different. We get to experience the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Our birth is an incorruptible seed as it is declared in 1 Peter 1:23, “having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” Let us thank God for our new birth and celebrate his work in us daily.
John 3:3 (NKJV) ― 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 3:6 (NKJV) ― 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
1 Peter 1:3 (NKJV) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Acts 4:12 (NKJV) ― 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Galatians 6:15 (NKJV) ― 15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.
Matthew 19:28 (NKJV) ― 28 So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
1 Peter 1:23 (NKJV) ― 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
