Conformed To The Image Of His Son

Topic: The Purpose For Our Salvation: To Be Conformed To His Image

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Romans 8:29 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Deuteronomio 29-31

Bible Versions:

Romans 8:29 (NLT) — For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

Romans 8:29 (MSG) — God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son.

Romans 8:29 (AMP) — For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.

Devotional Thought:

The miracle of salvation is something that sometimes we lack words to describe. We should live every day of our lives with a profound gratitude towards God for saving our lives. A change that only He could of done in us. When in the past, our life was lost and without purpose, now God has given us a new life! A life With a glorious destiny and future. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 we are told, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”. When one comes to the Lord we experience a new life.

But now that we have experienced this new life, I wonder, what’s the purpose that the Lord saved us? What is the destiny that God entrusted us to walk? Ephesians 1:4 reminds us that God chose us before the foundation of the world with a purpose, “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before him.” How tremendous that God already had a plan before we came into this world! We are not a coincidence in this world, but God already had a full plan for us.

His purpose according to the text we read this morning is that God has “predestined us to be conformed to the image of His Son” (v.29). This is God’s plan for our lives, be more like Him every day! What a great calling, the destiny that God has determined for our lives. To be transformed into the image of Christ is God’s plan for our lives. This should be our prayer, to be a little more like Jesus every day. Just do not forget that being molded into His likeness is a lifelong process.

Topical References:

Ephesians 1:11 (NKJV) — In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

Jeremiah 1:5 (NKJV) —“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Romans 9:23 (NKJV) — and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory,

Ephesians 1:4 (NKJV) — just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

  1. It leaves me in awe how God can have such a Devine plan for his loved ones, those who have been chosen, set apart and predestined. It shows Gods love in an inexplicable way and how he looks out for us every step of the way. I pray that I may fulfill the destiny that God has for us, to do his will, to love my pastors and my leaders and to yield to his voice, obedient and patiently. Blessed by the word. Thank you.

  2. Gods Good and fully sovereign!! the bible declares in Jeremiah 1:5
5 “I knew you before you were formed within your mother’s womb; before you were born I sanctified you and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.”
    6 “O Lord God,” I said, “I can’t do that! I’m far too young! I’m only a youth!”
7 “Don’t say that,” he replied, “for you will go wherever I send you and speak whatever I tell you to. 8 And don’t be afraid of the people, for I, the Lord, will be with you and see you through.”that deep!! purpose if any!!Blessings Family!1

  3. It feels amazing to know that we were made in the best way possible, made in the image of God!!!
