Justified By His Blood

Topic: The Cross Has Made Us Righteous Before God

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

Romans 5:8-9 (NKJV)

Daily Reading Plan

Hosea 8:1–10:15, Acts 4:1– 37, Job 16:1–9

Bible Versions:

Romans 5:8–9 (NLT) —  But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.

Romans 5:8–9 (MSG) — But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him. Now that we are set right with God by means of this sacrificial death, the consummate blood sacrifice, there is no longer a question of being at odds with God in any way.

Devotional Thought:

For a moment, meditate on the immense love God has shown each one of us us on the Cross. When thinking about the condition we were in, sunken and bound by our sins! It was a life of wickedness and addiction, that every day had us tangled and hopeless of freeing oneself from it. One can remembers how our own will and self effort fell short. Even though we wanted to get out of the vicious cycle and become liberated from our spiritual state, it was impossible! The enemy had us bound and hopeless.

But thank God that on a very special day Jesus Christ came into our lives. How glorious was the moment when Jesus appeared and forgave all our sins! In Romans 3:23-24 we are told, ” For all have sinned , and fallen short of the glory of God, being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”. How precious, His grace overflowing where sin abounded! We’re thoroughly washed by his blood and cleansed from all guilt and condemnation. In an instant we were declared righteous in the sight of God.

Before God we were forgiven and accepted, no more condemnation or guilt! Now we are righteous before God, and righteous not because of anything we have done, through human effort, but only through the work of Jesus on the Cross. His righteousness was a gift from God that can only be received through faith in Christ. We were declared innocent, washed in the precious blood of Christ. Freed from the consequences of our sin, and anticipating a glorious future! Thank God for that, today through the Cross we are declared righteous and no longer carry the blame for our sin.

Topical References:

Romans 8:30 (NKJV) — Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
