For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
1 Corinthians 2:2 (NKJV)
Daily Reading Plan
1 Corintios 2:2 (NLT) — For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified.
1 Corintios 2:2 (MSG) — I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who he is; then Jesus and what he did—Jesus crucified.
1 Corintios 2:2 (AMP) — For I resolved to know nothing (to be acquainted with nothing, to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and to be conscious of nothing) among you except Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and Him crucified.
As believers we recognize that the death of Jesus Christ on the cross is the heart of the gospel and of our Christian faith. I wonder, what would be of us without the death of Jesus on the Cross at Calvary? Where would we be without the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross? Through the cross and resurrection of Jesus, He has offered redemption and forgiveness of sins to all who believe in Him. The Cross remains as a symbol of hope and a continual reminder to the world of the great love of God.
It is for this reason that the Apostle Paul saw the Cross as the heart of the gospel. His only purpose was to preach Christ, and Him crucified. For Paul, The Cross was the target and the center of the messages he preached, we see that he would say, “for Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross be emptied of Christ. For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those who are being saved it is, to us, is the power of God”( 1 Corinthians 1:17-18 ).
Today we have the commission to take this same message of power that changes lives. In these times we live we must ensure that, The Cross remains at the core of our message! We understand that times change and the years pass, but the Cross remains the center of our message. We cannot abandon or under estimate the cross, because then we will lose our power and efficiency. We will end up being ineffective and without results in the commission Christ has left us .
Let us beware that we do not become like the Galatians, that they lost sight of the cross, to the point that Paul had to say , “O foolish Galatians ! Who has bewitched you not to obey the truth , before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified?” Pray that nothing and nobody fascinates us to the point that we forget about something so valuable and of high esteem,The Cross of Christ!
1 Corinthians 1:17–18 (NKJV) — For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:23 (NKJV) — but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,
Galatians 3:1 (NKJV) — O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?
Galatians 6:14 (NKJV) — But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
