Thoughts of Devotion:
Today the Lord seeks those who are generous of heart. There is always something to see in the life of a generous person, and there willingness to give to the Lord. Whenever a need arises, they are always generous to respond! We see this in Exodus 35:5, “Take from among you an offering to the Lord. Whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as an offering to the Lord: gold, silver, and bronze;” The generosity in giving makes it possible for the work of God to advance and to see all the resources to carry out his work. How many of a generous heart do we not need to fulfill the mission that God has given to his people.
The generous person is very different from greedy person, and what a difference there is between the two. We see that the selfish person one only thinks of themselves, their needs, their situation, without considering others. He is a person who is always thinking about the least he can give, his mentality is small, full of doubt and fear. The generous one is the opposite, he thinks more to give than receive! He thinks about how to give more to the Lord’s work, without even considering anything in return! In Isaiah 32:8 it says, “But a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand.
That’s why God blesses a willing heart, for his generosity! This is the key to see the blessing in 2016. We must seek to be more generous with God this year. This year is no time to hold, it’s time to scatter! In Proverbs 11:24 it reminds us this truth, “There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty.” The generous person can’t go wrong, because in God’s timing, his generosity will be rewarded. Let us practice in being liberal, to be givers to God, without regret. God will provide for us! Amen.
